Papers of David Fenbury. 1937-1976.

Correspondence, patrol reports, diaries, drafts of publications, newspaper cuttings and photographs. The early papers include diaries kept in Papua in 1941 and 1944, reports of the Mokolkol patrols, and papers on Fenbury's military service. Later papers comprise minutes, correspondence and other papers relating to local government, land tenure and the development of the native village count, particularly in the Gazelle Peninsular. Correspondents include Sir Paul Hasluck, J.K. McCarthy, M. Oken, M.C.W. Rich, K.R. Williamson, A.A. Roberts, D.M. Cleland and C.R. Lambert. There are also many notes for talks and addresses, letters to the South Pacific Post and other journals, and articles and other publications by Fenbury. They include typescripts of his short story 'The white cassowary', published in New Guinea in 1966.
